What happens under the hood
This tool uses pdf-lib to extract specific page ranges from PDFs locally. The PDF is parsed, page indices are calculated from the range input, and selected pages are copied into a new document using pdf-lib's page copying functions. Processing occurs entirely in your browser without uploading the original file.
Before you send the file
- Page numbers are one-based, matching what readers normally display.
- Duplicate page numbers intentionally duplicate those pages in the result.
- Password-protected files may need to be unlocked by the owner first.
Frequently asked questions
What format should I use for page ranges?
Use commas to separate ranges and individual pages, like '1-3, 7, 10-12'. Ranges are inclusive and one-based.
Can I extract non-consecutive pages?
Yes. Enter individual page numbers separated by commas, like '2, 5, 8' to extract those specific pages.
Will extracted pages retain their original quality?
Yes. No rasterization occurs; pages are copied as vector content with original quality preserved.
What happens if I enter an invalid page number?
The tool will show an error and prevent extraction until valid page ranges are provided.
Keep an untouched original and inspect the downloaded file before replacing any production asset. Closing this tab removes the selected files from the tool.
