How it works

A useful result,
without the upload.

Format a UTF-8 plain-text file for A4 or US Letter paper and save it as PDF from your browser, without uploading the text. The file is decoded and processed inside this browser tab, so File Preflight never receives its contents.

LOCAL METHODRead UTF-8 text locally → set paper and type size → browser Save as PDF

Worked example

Turn a long interview transcript into a 11.5 pt US Letter PDF while preserving its line breaks.

Before you send the file

  • Use UTF-8 text for the most reliable handling of international characters.
  • Plain text does not include fonts, headings, images or page-layout instructions.
  • Review long lines, page breaks and code indentation in the print preview before saving.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose A4 or US Letter?

Yes. Choose the paper size and one of three readable text sizes before opening the print preview.

Does this preserve line breaks?

Yes. Existing spaces and line breaks are preserved in the printable view, although the browser will wrap lines that exceed the page width.

Does File Preflight store the text?

No. The file is read locally and disappears from the tool when you close or refresh the tab.

File handling note

Keep an untouched original and inspect the downloaded file before replacing any production asset. Closing this tab removes the selected files from the tool.
